Case Study: Step Change Bars and Restaurants Ltd

The company operates the prestigious Cuban chain of bars across London and the South East. We installed a system in one of their bars in August 2006 and they were so delighted we have been asked to handle all the installations in their rapidly expanding collection of new establishments, as well as upgrade all their existing sites with our solution.

The system has the flexibility to help them cope with the changing needs of their operation throughout the day and week—at lunchtimes and early evening the restaurant is particularly busy, but at other times it’s the bar that works hardest.

Because of the dispersed nature of their sites the company has taken out an additional programming contract. This means we remotely handle all updates—changes to menus, products, prices, discounts, promotions. If the request is received within normal office hours we generally complete it within the hour. This gives the company complete consistency across all sites, avoiding errors and confusion—individual managers can only unlock those functions designated by head office.

Stock control can be viewed centrally so any issues can be identified and rectified rapidly. Plus the sophisticated reporting capabilities mean all the information they could ever possibly need is readily accessible and can be presented in whatever format best suits their requirements. At their request we’ve designed a very specific and highly personalised end of day report, then standardised it across all their sites.

They have a large workforce that is constantly changing—the fact that our POS software is simple to learn and operate is a real bonus. What’s more, if they want to change their work processes the system can easily be adapted.

The company runs a number of different loyalty schemes. Our system not only manages and tracks the various schemes with ease but it can, if required, manage the schemes centrally across all sites.
